Almost Christmastime

The holidays are nearing, and the weather is getting colder every day. I've been drinking hot chocolate, trying out new coffees with friends, playing lots of Clue, and wearing layers on layers.
I'm super excited for Christmas, and to celebrate its coming, bought a bright red dress. I can't wait for it to snow so I can put on my Bon Iver records without guilt!

Fall Days

Lately I've been loving this fall weather. The cloudy days, the rainy nights, the blankets and hot chocolate. I love it all.
I've been spending a lot of time adventuring with friends, drinking coffee in the mornings, listening to records, reading (Tell The Wolves I'm Home is the book I'm reading right now, and it is so so good), and watching lots of scary movies.
The other day my friend and I came across an amazing ivy covered wall in my town, and of course we had to snap some photos.

What I'm wearing:
top - Gap
skirt - Target
shoes - Charlotte Russe
scarf - gift from my mom

Hope everyone is enjoying fall as well!

Liebster Award!

I was nominated by Harian for the Liebster Award. Thanks so much for nominating me! (check out her lovely blog here)
Here are the questions-

1. Why did you start blogging?
I’ve always loved reading blogs, so I thought I’d start one myself! It’s a great way to share your interests, and see that there are people out there who enjoy the same things you do.

2. Who is your role model?
Emma Watson or, if I were to pick one from the past, Audrey Hepburn. Emma is a wonderful fashion icon and actor, but she still stays true to herself and has great character. And Audrey because I love her in old movies (especially Wait Until Dark), and she is such a beauty and inspiration. Her style is so classic.

3. What are your 3 best beauty items?
My favourite three beauty products (as of right now) would have to be Maybelline Color Whisper in Cherry On Top, Benefit Bad Gal mascara, and VS Illuminating Face Powder in Next to Nude.

4. What are your favourite beauty brands?
I use a lot of different brands.. I think Benefit is really fun and has a lot of interesting products. I also like lipsticks by Maybelline.

5. When is your favourite fashion season?
Maybe fall just because you can wear a sweater one day and a dress the next! I also love layering so fall works perfectly for that!

6. If you could have any fashion related item in the world what would it be? Juicy Couture Sophia Mini Bag with Stones in white! It’s sooo pretty!

7. What's your favourite book or magazine?
My favourite book right now is probably The Little Prince

8. Who or what is your inspiration?
There is so much that inspires me. Like honestly I get inspired by some of the most random things.. I keep a little blank sketchbook where I glue pictures of things that inspire me (things out of magazines, photographs, stuff like that). And a lot of people inspire me, too. Like some of my friends, my brother, and some photographers and designers that I really like.

9. What's your dream/ life goal?
I’m definitely a dreamer so there are lots of things I want out of my life. I want to spend time in different cities and adventure through meadows. I want to be able to live my life freely and not get stuck doing something boring or that I don’t enjoy. Career-wise I’m not really sure, but I’m interested in fashion design as well as styling and photography. I’ve always wanted an apartment that overlooks the city and at night I can listen to records and work on projects and look outside at the pretty lights and then be able to wake up and go down the street to a little cafe to drink some early morning coffee.

10. Where is the favourite place you've visited?
I really love Chicago. But there are lots more places I want to visit that I’m sure I’ll love!

11. What're your travel essentials?
I like to bring a couple pairs of skinny jeans, a couple dresses, some sweaters or tops, a few light beauty products, my camera, a sketchbook, sometimes a flower crown or two, annndd ah I know there’s more but I can’t think! (well of course my toothbrush and stuff like that haha!)

I nominate-
1. Rebecca
2. Monica
3. Ellie
4. Mia
5. Ada
6. Natassa
7. Chloe
8. Lydia
9. Phillipa
10. Karla
11. Lizzy

Here are my questions-
1. What inspires you?
2. Do you prefer the city, or do you like the country?
3. What's your favourite way to wear your hair?
4. Do you like dresses or jeans better?
5. What is your favourite thing to blog about?
6. What's your favourite thing to do on rainy days?
7. Which colour do you like best for fall?
8. Are you a cat person or a dog person?
9. What's your favourite movie?
10. Who is your fashion icon?
11. When do you like to blog the most?

Thanks again, Harian, for nominating me! Sorry it took so long to get this post up!

Playlist for Fall

Since fall's is just around the corner, I decided to make up a playlist to fit the soon to come chilly days. I think music that's beautiful and haunting fits the feeling of autumn perfectly, so here are the songs I chose--

Young and Beautiful - Lana Del Rey
We Don't Eat - James Vincent McMorrow
Young Guns - Moonlight Bride
Love is Blindness - cover by Jack White
Stacks - Bon Iver
Song for Zula - Phosphorescent
Christmas TV - Slow Club
Broadripple is Burning - Margot and the Nuclear So & Sos
Not So Sure - Joe Pug
Paper Aeroplane - Angus & Julia Stone
Video Games - Lana Del Rey
Little Talks - Of Monsters and Men

I also snapped a few photos that reminded me of the onset of fall-

Hope you like the music and photos!

Hot Pink

The other day I decided to give bright pink liner a shot. I'm not a huge wearer of eyeliner, especially not dark colours, but I was enthralled by the electric eye makeup I'd seen several models wearing. I ended up loving it! It's so different and I paired it with a matching lipstick and clean face.

What do you think? Would you wear bright eyeliner, or is it just too wild?

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger Tag!

I was tagged by Chloe from realityleaveslotstoimagination.blogspot.com to do this tag! Her blog is darling, you should check it out!

1) How many hours a week do you spend writing/ editing posts?
It really depends on whether I have ideas for posts or if I'm busy. I've been kind of slacking lately, maybe putting one post up a week, but I'm going to try my best to do more! It takes me about an hour to get each post ready, maybe less. Uploading the photos probably takes the longest!

2) Are you a spender or a saver?
I'm probably more of a saver, because I don't like spending a lot of money. But sometimes I just let myself go and treat myself to shopping! I'm definitely a sucker for lipstick, every time I shop I buy one!

3) When is it easier for you to blog?
I do a lot of my blogging at night. That's usually when I spend time editing the layout of my blog, too. Sometimes I blog in the afternoon though, it really depends on when it's quietest.

4) What makes writing behind a computer comfortable for you?
I think it allows you to be able to write to people who are similar to you and have the same interests as you. It's always nice to know that there are people out there who enjoy the same things I do! Since I've been going to the same school all my life and I'm not out yet, there isn't really much of a chance to meet many new people.

5) What's your worst hair/makeup habit?
I always forget to put on moisturizer! My skin has a tendency to be dry sometimes and that makes it difficult to apply foundation.

6) What's one quote you wished the world lived by?
Man, I have so many favourite quotes! Here are a few that I really like--
"Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it yourself"- Unknown
"I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it"- Jack Dawson, Titanic
"You are terrifying and strange and beautiful, something not everyone knows how to love"- Warsan Shire

7) How long do you spend getting ready everyday?
Probably around an hour! I have to take my shower, get dressed, do my makeup, and then do my hair! Except a lot of times I just let my hair go wild because I'm too lazy to do anything else to it, haha!

8) Who's your favourite blogger?
Hmm, I think I have several. Kailey from Mermaidens is definitely one of my favourites! She has super fun outfits and I really enjoy reading her blog. I also love Shae. Her painted photography is incredible. Another favourite blog would have to be The Road is Home. It was one of the first blogs I read, and it is written so honestly and the photographs are so so beautiful.

9) Who is a blogger you read who you think deserves more subscribers than they have?
Hannah from Sweet Sweet Noir! Actually I'm not sure how many subscribers she has, but her blog is super lovely and I think she deserves a lot! The photos are gorgeous and I love her style. I find her blog to be a big inspiration.

10) What's one thing you're excited about in the upcoming year?
One thing? There are lots! I can't wait to adventure and take lots of photos and try new things. I want to try my best to live exactly how I imagine.

11) What's your most awkward blogging moment?
I actually haven't had one... yet. :-D

12) How long does it take you to prep for a post?
Well the first thing I do is plan what the post will be, and usually that just happens when an idea pops into my head. Then I have to go take the photos for it, which can sometimes take awhile, depending on whether I have someone to help me or if I just have to use a tripod and self timer. After that I pick through them, edit them, and upload them. Then I have to write, which probably takes the longest unless it's just a few quick notes about the photos!

13) Are you wearing pants (trousers) right now or are you actually wearing pajama bottoms or sweatpants?
I'm wearing some old beat up skinny jeans from F21!

14) What are you most proud of in your life?
I think I'm most proud of myself over this past summer. Last year was kind of difficult for me because I was feeling very different from everyone around me. I was interested in spending nights under the stars talking about old movies or drinking coffee and dreaming while everyone else was into, well, different things. But then summer came and I surrounded myself with people who believed in the same things I did, and who enjoyed adventuring through meadows and wearing flower crowns and listening to records. I did my best to see beauty in everything and I began to be more confident in who I was, and to accept myself. And I think that was a very good thing.

15) Who do you tag?

Thank you Chloe for tagging me!

Braided Bun

The other day I was trying to find something interesting to do with my hair, and after failing miserably at attempting a hair bow, I decided to just try a braided bun. It ended up being incredibly easy!

Here's how-

Make a high ponytail. It's okay if it's a little messy!

Then braid the ponytail.
Then twist the braid around just like what you would do with a regular bun and secure it with bobby pins.

That's all! I think it's perfect for hot summer days. It's super easy and I love the way it looks! <3

Lipstick Picks (Fall)

I decided to show three lipsticks that I think will be perfect for fall. I know it's still summer, but before we know it, the leaves will be falling and the air turning chilly and crisp.
For fall, my lipstick picks are Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting, Maybelline Color Whisper in Made-It Mauve, and Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Natural in N28.
Sugar Frosting is a super light almost nude pink. It's very shimmery and good for a natural look.

Made-It Mauve is a brownish-red. Like the other Color Whispers, it's sheer. I can definitely see this lipstick paired with a strong gold eye.

N28 is my favourite of the three (but I do wish it had an actual name!). It's a deep purple/magenta. It definitely adds that pop of colour while still sticking with the palette of fall.

Gatsby With a Twist

When I first read The Great Gatsby (in anticipation of the movie), I fell in love. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the story or just the whole feeling of sadness and restlessness, but something about it stood out from other books I'd read. I was super excited for the movie, and I have to say it definitely met my expectations. It was artsy and mysterious and I left the theater totally in love with the twenties.
So when I saw this gorgeous drop waist dress for sale at a boutique while I was on vacation, I knew I had to have it. I had no idea when I'd wear it, but I knew I'd regret not getting it.
Today, the middle of the summer, just like when The Great Gatsby was set, I felt I should wear it, even if I didn't have an amazing party to go to. Unfortunately, I don't have a cool twenties bob, nor do I have that decade's style of shoes. So instead, I put on my favourite platforms and some red lipstick, spicing up the Gatsby look.

What I'm wearing:
dress - Shabby Chic boutique
shirt/jacket - H&M
shoes - Urban Outfitters
lipstick - Revlon Certainly Red

Lipstick Love

When it comes to makeup, lip products are one of my favourites. I think the first lipstick I ever wore was a bright red Dior one that belonged to one of my friend's sister, and I fell in love.
This summer I've been loving bright pink lipsticks, so here are three of my favourites!

Cherry On Top is one of the Maybelline Color Whispers. It's more of a sheer lipstick, but it still adds a pop of colour.

Pink Lyric by NYX is a bright creamy pink. I love pairing it with a little mascara and a clean face.

Lollipop is a Lip Butter by Revlon. It's more of a magenta, and is a little bit pearlescent. It's a nice deeper purple tinted pink.

Vintage Shoot

A little over a month ago, my cousin, Josie, took me on a vintage photoshoot. We wandered around a meadow with balloons, flower crowns, and of course, vintage cameras and suitcases. It was so much fun! She is so talented and the photos turned out wonderful. Here are just a few of them!

The sky was so incredible!

Check out her other photography here!
